Tournament Info update

Since the poll I ran didn't decide much (50-50 split on how to run it), I have come up with a new way to run this tournament which will hopefully work out for everyone.

Tournament Schedule

Saturday, November 29	Invitations are sent out based on Week 6 WL Rankings
Mon, Dec 1, 7pm EST	Invitation response deadline
Mon-Wed, Dec 1-3	Qualification tournament
Wed, Dec 3, 8pm EST	First round matchups are posted
Saturday, December 6	All first round matchups completed
Monday, December 8	All second round matchups completed
Tuesday, December 9	All semifinal matchups completed
Wednesday, December 10	Finals completed

I feel this schedule gives much more flexibility for everyone involved. The dates for completion for each round are a final deadline that matches must be completed by. Due to the schedule's nature, this tournament could be finished before December 10th.

Invitations
Invitations must be responded to with a "yes" or a "no" so I know whether to extend extra invites to other people. If an invitation is declined within 24 hours of it being sent, a new invite will be sent to the next person on the list. If I don't receive a response by the deadline, I will assume that the invitation is being declined.

Scheduling Matches
Once matches are posted in the forum, you are responsible for setting up a time when the match can be completed with your opponent before the rouond deadline. I will post matchups, a full bracket, and an area for you to schedule your match and post results when it is completed. Results should be reported as any match score in golf is: "Player_A beats Player_B, X&Y", where X is the number of holes up and Y is number of holes remaining. It is the winner's responsibility to post the match score in the forum and await their next matchup.

Playing Matches
Since each round is 18 holes, there are two ways matches can be played (due to the fact that free play only allows for a 9-hole match maximum).

1. Play the match for 50 cents in order to play all 18 holes at once under match play scoring.
   
2. Play the match for free, but only 9 holes at a time. If this option is chosen, you must play stroke play and keep track of the match score manually.

Things to keep in mind

• Use the head-to-head room on UTour to play your matches
  
• If you and your opponent are separated by more than 100 rating points, the lower rated person must set up the match. This must be done because:
  
  • UTour does not allow you to offer a matchplay game to an opponent 100 rating points or more under your rating
    
  • In stroke play, UTour forces you to offer a stroke to anyone over 100 rating points under your rating
    
  • If the lower ranked player sets up the match, these problems will be avoided

Qualifying Tournament - Monday, December 1st

An 18-hole tournament for the 8 lowest seeds of the 20 invited to the tournament

The top 4 in this tournament will qualify for the Matchplay Tournament

That's correct. The qualifier ends today and final matchups are posted tonight.

Hey andwilk..just wondering if it would be possible to have like a B division matchplay for like say..the bottom 16..really enjoyed playing matchplay and it would get everyone involved during the course of the week...just a thought....what does everyone else think...maybe for next season as it would be too hard to get it going now.....let me know what you think...FuSe out

it would be a possibility but it would be alot to organize. The reason I kept it to 16 people this time was just to see how it goes.

I think next year I will post a sign up for the matchplay instead of invites so that anyone who wants to play can sign up for it and I could split it top half would be division A and bottom half is division B. That way I know know who is interested and who will play by just who signs up and don't have to mess with the invites.

how are the season points being handed out for this tour

Season points will be handed out at a normal distribution through 16th place for this tournament so winner gets 500, 2nd place gets 431, etc. 1st through 4th are decided through matches and 5th-16th I am using total wins and then match score as the tiebreaker (losing 1 down is better than 2&1, which is better than losing 3&1, etc). Everyone who lost in 1st round will place 9th through 16th and all quarterfinal losers will place above them in 5th through 8th.

Place in the tournament is based only on performance in the tournament and not the original seed.
